If the engine must be removed, first remove the rear engine back plate from the to allow removal.
If this metal sheet is not present, the engine draws in the hot air produced by the exhaust system. We must limit this as much as possible. Be careful not to travel long distances without this cover plate, especially in summer, the risk of overheating is very high.
The rear engine cover plates of the Volkswagen, Karmann Ghia and Split Bus are available in different versions, with or without holes for heating and preheating pipes, optionally in black or chrome.
These panels are available for a limited number of years of construction. If you also replace the sheet behind the pulley, you can use the rear sheets for subsequent years of construction. Also keep in mind that the cover plates with holes for preheating pipes is not equipped with sealing parts for tubes, if you want them to be identical to the original, then transfer the sealing parts from your old cover plate.
The rear panels of the Bay Window Bus (VW T2 ) are identical to the original in every detail. If you also need the sheet metal part behind the pulley, you can use part number 02236. In this case, you will have to close the hole for the crankcase ventilation tube yourself.
