Volkswagen Buses equipped for passenger transport are equipped with vent windows to allow passengers to enjoy a cool breeze when the outside temperature rises. On the cheapest VW Buses, the frame around the vent window is painted black, while it is chrome-plated on the more luxurious version. The vent windows are also applied on the extended cab pickup versions (also called double cab or crew cab), which were originally only available in standard version, so without chrome.
You can restore your existing vent window and replace any parts that are bad, but make sure that the cost will not be higher than a new vent window that can be installed immediately. If you want to take the easy way out, you should opt for a new vent window. If you want to go for the original, you will have to restore it, knowing that the costs may be higher.
Complete vent windows come ready to install with a black or chrome frame around the glass, depending on what was originally used or what best suits your personal taste.
If you want to restore your vent window or just need a spare part, most parts are also available separately (see the replacement parts tab).
