Bumper guards were available as a luxury on Volkswagen Beetle models, while they were fitted as standard on the Karmann Ghia until 7/1971.
Bumper guards are intended to protect the bumper in small collisions but are now installed as an additional accessory to confirm the classic look. For the Karmann Ghia, only one model is available, while for the Volkswagen Beetle, there are three, depending on the year and/or the bumper.
With a stainless steel bumper guard, you are assured of a piece that will never rust again, and with the extra layer of chrome applied, there is no noticeable difference between stainless steel and steel. In addition, these specimens are equipped with protective rubbers that ensure that the bumper guard will not scratch your bumper. The protective rubber should be cut to length and tightened around the guard.
Caution : Chrome steel bumper guards must always be maintained. If you neglect maintenance, rust will quickly take over. Stainless steel bumpers guards are an exception to this rule. You are assured of having a bumper guard that will never rust again.
