Our Volkswagens are full of screws, bolts, nuts and washers, not all manufactured for a particular model, but used universally.
These parts can be identified by their reference number starting with the "N" of the German word Normteile, which means "standard parts".
Although they are standard parts, this does not mean that they are still readily available today.
The round-headed, cross-grooved cylinder screws mentioned here were used in all Volkswagens. from the early 1970s onwards, they were used much more frequently than before, particularly in the Bay Window Bus and the VW Vanagon.
Note: Always fit the correct fasteners, as specified by Volkswagen, and you'll never be surprised.
