This series has been specially created to support the ClassicVW TECH volume 6 and volume 7 technical books.
From the very beginning of its existence, Volkswagen has arranged the parts in a very efficient way. You will find a lot of information in the VW reference. The three numbers in the middle indicate the group to which the piece belongs, the first of these three numbers indicates the main group.
Volkswagen published very complete books in which the complete car was shown in exploded view and each part had a number that referred to the VW number with additional information about the year of manufacture, model, etc. This way the mechanics could quickly order the right part and immediately see where that part was located in the warehouse.
The first two books in this series show all air-cooled Volkswagen engines in practical drawings. It happens very often that the so-called original Beetle from 1966 doesn't match this year of manufacture at all, the chassis is from 1966, the body from 1985 and the engine from 1972 to name just one example. The ClassicVW Parts book series is the answer, you will have all the engine images in exploded view of all VWs from 1949 to 1985 included in two books.
ClassicVW PARTS books come with a hard cover in a deluxe version. Each photo shows each part with a number, so it is very easy to indicate exactly which part you are looking for.
