Our Volkswagens are full of screws, bolts, nuts and washers, not all manufactured for a particular model, but used universally.
These parts can be identified by their reference number starting with the "N" of the German word Normteile, which means "standard parts".
Although they are standard parts, this does not mean that they are still readily available today.
These electrolytically blackened ball-head or panhead screws are a good example. They are identical to the original and are mainly used where they are clearly visible, hence the black finish.
